J'khand cabinet approves guv's budget speech

Ranchi, Feb 27 (UNI) The Jharkhand cabinet today approved the Governor's customary speech to be read on the opening day of budget session beginning March second.

The cabinet meeting chaired by Chief Minister Madhu Koda also approved one ex-cadre of DGP rank with retrospective effect from June last year, cabinet secretary J B Tubid said.

Besides, the cabinet also ammended the Bihar finance regulation (article 30), Mr Tubid said.

In yet another decision, the government appointed HUDCO as a consultant in terms of giving measures for beautification of all towns in the state.

The HUDCO was asked to compare the exisiting nature and level of urbanisation with past trends of urbanisation, impact of migration from rurual areas, past and emerging economic trends on urbanisation, and future trends of growth in urbanisation.

Power strike affects train services

Patna, Feb 27 (UNI) A 24-hour strike resorted by by powermen in Bihar beginning at 0600 hours today forced the railway authorities to cancel and reschedule a number of trains. Railway sources said that the 2397 Gaya-New Delhi Mahabodhi Express, Dehradoon-Howrah Express, 707 Dehri-Gaya express, and 8612 Ranchi-Varanasi Express were among several long distance trains cancelled due to shortage of power supply. The 2308 Jodhpur-Howrah express and 2312 Kalka-Howrah Mail among a number of trains were rescheduled, UNI.....

6 SP activists booked for assaulting cop

Mahoba, Feb 24 (UNI) Six ruling Samajwadi Party (SP) activists have been booked for assaulting a police officer during the recent visit of Uttar Pradesh Chief Minister Mulayam Singh Yadav here. Sub-inspector R D Verma, deployed at Bahilpur police station in Chitrakoot district, had alleged assault by the SP activists on February 18, when he tried to stop them from entering the city in an unauthorised manner. Mizo ministerial staff demand promotion in selection grade

Aizawl, Feb 27 (UNI) Mizoram Ministerial Service Assistant Association has demanded promotion of non-gazetted administrative officers in selection grade catagory. Association's statement pointed out that the ministrial officers should be promoted under quota system as soon as the upper level officer posts fall vacant. It has also demanded Central pay scale of Rs 10,500 against the exisitng Rs 6,500 for the ministrial staff.
