Ingersoll Rand to sell global road development biz to Volvo

New Delhi, Feb 27 (UNI) Ingersoll Rand India Ltd today said its US-based parent Ingersoll Rand Company, has decided to sell its global road development business to leading truck maker Volvo Construction Equipment AB.

In India, the sale of the road development business, which forms part of the construction technologies segment, will take place after necessary legal formalities including consent from the Board of Directors as well as the members of the company are obtained as per statutes.

Capital formation is on decline in agriculture: Survey

New Delhi, Feb 27 (UNI) The capital formation in Indian agriculture continues to be low 1.9 per cent of GDP since 2002-03 even as public investment to gross investment in agriculture increased by 6.5 percentage points from 1999-2000 to reach 24.2 per cent in 2005-06, says Economic Survey 2006-2007. The capital formation has been low since 1990-91 with decline in public investment in agriculture infrastructure, particularly irrigation. It was lowest at 1.26 and 1.37 per cent during 1998-99 and 1999-2000.....

Govt to increase expenditure to improve healthcare

New Delhi, Feb 27 (UNI) Admitting that inadequacies in existing health infrastructure have led to gaps in coverage and outreach services in rural areas, the Economic Survey said efforts would be made for improvement in healthcare as it was crucial for reaping the demographic dividend, having healthy productive workforce and general welfare. The Economic Survey-2006-07 laid in the Lok Sabha said annual population growth was expected to decelerate from 1.6 per cent in the five year ending in 2006 to 0.9.....
