First result goes to Congress in Manipur

Imphal, Feb 27 (UNI) The Congress was the first party to open its account in Manipur with its president Gaikhangam re-elected from the 54 Nungba AC Assembly constituency.

Mr Gaikhangam defeated his nearest rival Gangmumei Kamei (Independent) by a margin of 5000 votes. While Mr Gaikhangam polled 11,552 votes, his nearest rival Gangmumei bagged 5893.

Mr Kamei was supported by the United Naga Council.

According to trends available, the Congress was leading in three seats closely followed by the RJD and the Manipur People's Party with two each.

The NCP was leading in one and Independents in two seats.

ICAI, IGNOU to ink MoU on specialised B Com, M Com courses

New Delhi, Mar 11 (UNI) The Institute of Chartered Accountants of India (ICAI) will enter into a Memorandum of Understanding with Indira Gandhi National Open University (IGNOU) for launch of specialised B.Com and M.Com courses granting exemption to the ICAI students for the subjects studied in the Chartered Accountancy (CA) course. NHRL stressed need to upgrade health care facilities

New Delhi, Mar 11 (UNI) Emphasising the need to upgrade healthcare facilities at ''all levels'', the National Human Rights Commission (NHRC) has made a slew of recommendations, including introduction of public private partnership, for ensuring that the masses have access to healthcare.
