FCI official in CBI net for bribery

Hyderabad, Feb 27 (UNI) The Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI) had arrested a senior officer of Food Corporation of India (FCI) at Nizamabad in Andhra Pradesh for taking a bribe for clearing pending bills.

FCI Nizamabad Area Manager A Ravindra was allegedly caught 'red handed' while taking a bribe of Rs 50,000, a CBI release said here today.

Ravindra was arrested and a case registered under Section 7 of the Prevention of Corruption Act.

Five killed on the spot in jeep tempo mishap

Belgaum, Feb 27 (UNI) Five people were killed on the spot and 15 others injued when a jeep and a passenger tempo collided near Sanganakeri cross in Belgaum district this evening. According to Police the jeep was on its way to Sanganakeri from Gokak and the passenger tempo was on its way to Gokak from Sanaganakeri when the mishap occurred. Police official arrested on murder charges

Kolkata, Feb 28 (UNI) Police today arrested the Officer in-Charge of Katwa police station for allegedly murdering a Congress supporter during the polling for the governing body of a college in Burdwan district on February 25. Accused Debojyoti Saha would be produced in the court today, Home Secretary Prasad Ranjan Ray told newspersons. Howrah, Feb 28 (UNI) Howrah fast track court today awarded a life term imprisonment for killing his wife. The accused, Sheikh Ismail Ali (35), had strangulated his wife to death on May eight, 2006.
