Dr Toms ntl bags patent for Orthodontic Braces

Kozhikode, Kerala, Feb 27 (UNI) Leading dental products manufacturer and distributor Dr Toms International was awarded a patent for producing and marketing Easy Braces (Orthodontic) used for correcting dental bad habits and mal-occlusion.

As per a communication received from the Government of India, Patent Office, the exclusive right to produce and market the device in the country lies with the company for a period of 20 years, Managing Director George Kuriakose told reporters here last night.

The official communication awarding the patent with effect from October 29, 2003, was received recently, he said.

Easy Braces available in the market, on a tariff ranging between Rs 1,500 to Rs 15,000, can correct minor mal-occlusion, dental bad habits, including mouth breathing, thumb sucking, tongue thrusting, lip biting, bruxism and minor disordered teeth in mixed dentition, he claimed.

The company also produces Cari-De-Solve for softening the caries enabling the doctor to remove it easily in 30 seconds, he said.

A mix of three types of amino acids and sodium hypo-chloride, the solution developed by the Sree Chithira Thirunal Institute of Medical Sciences, Thiruvanthapuram, for the company, is a well proven alternative for traditional drilling, he said.

Drunken govt officer held

Chitrakoot, Feb 26 (UNI) An inebriated Entertainment Tax officer was arrested for allegedly ''manhandling'' audience at a cinema hall in this district of Uttar Pradesh. Police today said the incident occurred near Chitrakoot district headquarters last night, when Shri Krishna entered a cinema hall and scuffled with the audience and hall workers. Gurgaon, Haryana, Feb 26 (UNI) Police today caught the driver of the Indica car, which allegedly ferried the two girls from a restaurant here to the airport from where they were flown to the United States. Agra, Feb 26 (UNI) Police has so far been unable to get any clue about the Sri Lanka national, who had been missing since the last five days in district of Uttar Pradesh. K G A Vijay Singhai (76) along with his wife and niece had arrived in the city on February 22 and taken accommodation in a hotel under Rakabganj police station area.
