Committee to control price hike is poll gimmick: Kadam

Mumbai, Feb 27 (UNI) Leader of the Opposition in the Legislative Assembly Ramdas Kadam today said the appointment of a committee to check the price rise, is only a gimmick.

The committee has been appointed by Chief Minister Vilasrao Deshmukh and is headed by the chief secretary.

Mr Kadam, in a statement here today, said the committee has been appointed with an eye on the zilla parishad and panchayat samiti elections.

Two long distance trains to stop at Nadiad and Anand

Nadiad, Feb 27 (UNI) Ahmedabad-Patna Express and Ahmedabad-Azimabad Express would stop at Nadiad and Anand railway stations from tomorrow. Many workers from the other states live in Anand and Kheda and they were finding it difficult to catch a train to their native place as they had to go either to Ahmedabad or Vadodara railway stations. In this connection, a memorandum was submitted to Union minister of state for Petroleum Dinsha Patel who had forwarded it to the railway.....

Body of a missing teenager found in a pond

Surat, Feb 27 (UNI) The body of a 1teenager, who was missing from Kanakpur village in Sachin, was found from a pond in Lajpore village yesterday. According to Sachin police, the 13-year-old Bhittu, son of Jayapal Rampal Yadav, a textile unit worker residing in Krishnakunj society in Kanakpur village near Sachin, was missing since February 23. Jayapal Yadav, in his complaint filed with police, had stated that Bhittu was last seen playing cricket with his friends at a ground near.....

Rs 4 lakh looted from retired govt employee's house

Anand, Feb 27 (UNI) Unknown persons have robbed Rs 4 lakh from the residence of a retired state government employee at Saghini village of Petlad taluka in the district. Ramanbhai Barot, in a complaint to the Petlad rural police yesterday evening, said he came to know about the robbery yesterday. He received Rs 40,000 from an investment in mutual funds and went to keep the amount in a cupboard. In which he had securely kept Rs 4 lakh of Rs 4.75.....
