Brass cutting and nickel rises on better industrial demand

Mumbai, Feb 27 (UNI) Brass cutting and nickel rose on better industrial demand as the London Metal Exchange rose, traders at the Bombay Metal Exchange said today.

In the ferrous category, copper utensil and copper heavy declined by Rs 500 and Rs 600 per quintal respectively on sustained heavy selling pressure. But brass cutting shot up by Rs 1,000 per quintal on increase of fresh demand.

In the non-ferrous category, Copper wire bar eased by Rs 300 per quintal on increased offers by stockists.

Tin slab also fell by Rs six per kg on thin buying support. But Nickel cathode went up by Rs 10 per kg on good demand.

Following are the spot metal prices per quintal: Ferrous metals: Copper heavy - Rs 31,200, copper utensils - Rs 29,500, brass utensils - Rs 23,500, brass cuttings - Rs 25,000 and aluminium utensils - Rs 11,900.

Non-ferrous metals: Copper wire bars - Rs 35,000, aluminium ingots - Rs 14,500, zinc slab Rs 19,000, lead ingots - Rs 8,300, tin slab - Rs 690 (per kg) and nickel cathode - Rs 2,070 (per kg).

Sensex crashes above 300 pts, opens at 13,045.12

Mumbai, Feb 28 (UNI) The BSE sensex today crashed by around 325 points and quoted a low at 13,045.12 against 13,478.83 on the previous day's close on sustained heavy selling pressure by local operators. The BSE Sensex tumbled in the opening session led by a sharp fall across global markets. Later, the 30-shares BSE Sensex was down by 457.72 points to close at 13,011.25. It had opened with a yawning downward gap, at 13, 045.12, and tumbled to a low.....

Sensex crashes by 540.74 points

Mumbai, Feb 28 (UNI) The Sensex today crashed by 540.74 points and closed in the red at 12, 938.09 on the Bombay Stock Exchange as panic selling gripped the markets after presentation of the Union Budget, perceived by market analysts as 'populist' and 'market-unfriendly'. The market was hammered post-Budget, as it turned out to be a big disappointment. The steep fall came amid extremely high volatility. The 30-shares BSE Sensex tumbled by 540.74 points, to settle at 12,938.09, on heavy.....

Gold, Silver ease on bearish global advice

Mumbai, Feb 28 (UNI) Spot Gold and Silver today eased on bearish global advice in the closing session, traders at the Bombay Bullion Association said. Following are the closing rates of Silver and Gold: Silver (per kg) 999 fineness grade : Rs 20,550 (20,695), Gold (per 10 gm): Gold 99.5 purity standard mint : Rs 9,715 (9,820), Gold 99.9 purity pure gold : Rs 9,765 (9,865).
