Bomb hoax at police quarters in Chennai

Chennai, Feb 27 (UNI) An anonymous letter saying that bombs would explode at the residential police quarters in Mannady in North Chennai turned out to be a hoax today.

Police said the letter was received by the Selaiyur police yesterday. It said bombs had been planted at Mannady police quarters and they would explode today.

A special police team along with the bomb disposal squad and sniffer dogs rushed to the spot and conducted a thorough search.

However, no explosives were found.

Police were looking for the person who had written the letter.

Chennai, Feb 27 (UNI) Madras High Court today directed CBI and Tamil Nadu Government to submit the status of the Vachathi case relating to the alleged rape, attack and torture of tribals by Forest and Police officials in Vachathi village in Dharmapuri District in 1992. A Division Bench comprising Justices S J Mukopadhya and R Sudhakar also directed the CBI and State Government to explain why the trial had not been completed for the past 11 years, while posting to March.....

FCI official in CBI net for bribery

Hyderabad, Feb 27 (UNI) The Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI) had arrested a senior officer of Food Corporation of India (FCI) at Nizamabad in Andhra Pradesh for taking a bribe for clearing pending bills. FCI Nizamabad Area Manager A Ravindra was allegedly caught 'red handed' while taking a bribe of Rs 50,000, a CBI release said here today. Bangalore, Feb 27 (UNI) The Karnataka High Court today declined bail to two, accused in the Telgi fake stamp paper scam. Five killed on the spot in jeep tempo mishap

Belgaum, Feb 27 (UNI) Five people were killed on the spot and 15 others injued when a jeep and a passenger tempo collided near Sanganakeri cross in Belgaum district this evening.
