Bomb blasts on railway track at Malda (to go with CA 8)

Kolkata, Feb 27 (UNI) Train services on the Jamalpur-Kiul section of Eastern Railway at Malda were disrupted from midnight 0035 to 0910 hrs today following twin blasts between Kajra and Uren stations and Uren and Dhanauri stations.

However, no cases of casualty or damage to the coaches were reported, railway sources said here today.

The blasts resulted in the formation of 1-1.5 m deep craters on the ground at both the places.

Malda Divisional Railway Manager Anup Sahu and other senior officials had rushed to the site to monitor the situation. Repairing work also was started after the police clearance.

Train services were resumed only after 0910 hrs soon after the tracks were repaired.

About eight trains including 3242 Dn Rajendranagar-Banka Express, 3484 Dn Farakka Express via Sultanpur, 3413 Up Farakka Express via Faizabad and 3023 Up Howrah-Gaya Express were detained at different stations en-route for about six hours.

BSF busts fake currency racket originated by Bangladesh

Shillong, Feb 27 (UNI) The BSF today seized Rs 43200 fake currency notes from a Bangladeshi national at Purakhasia village of Meghalaya West Garo Hills district near Indo-Bangla border. Ten years RI for three in shoe loot case

Patna, Feb 27 (UNI) A local court today awarded 10 years rigorous imprisonment to three accused in connection with loot of truck load of shoes under Gardanibagh police station here on September 27, 2002. Presiding officer of the fast track court K M Srivastav sentenced the three accused to imprisonment after they were found guilty in the case.
