Bihar assembly adjourned after pandemonium on EGS

Patna, Feb 27 (UNI) Bihar Assembly was adjourned following pandemonium by the RJD members demanding proper implementation of Employment Guarantee Scheme(EGS) in the state.

Soon after the question hour, the RJD members trooped to the well of the House demanding proper implementation of the EGS. The CPI(ML) members also joined them. Shouting anti-government slogans, they alleged that schemes were not being implemented properly.

Amid noisy scenes, Assembly Speaker began proceedings of the Zero Hour. Leader of the Opposition in state assembly Ms Rabri Devi was also seen on her feet. However, the utterances made by her remained unheard.

Later, the Speaker adjourned the house till lunch.

Earlier, the Speaker had turned down the adjournment motion brought by the RJD members which agitated them further.

TV artiste surrenders before Magistrate's court

Chennai, Feb 23 (UNI) Popular television artiste Devi Priya today surrendered before the magistrate's court and completed formalities for obtaining anticipatory bail, granted by the Madras High court. Priya had moved the High Court last week and obtained advance bail following complaints lodged by her fiance William Issac's divorced wife Stella and second wife Hemamalini. While Issac's first wife Stella lodged a complaint against him for not returning 45 gold sovereigns and Rs 45,000 cash even after the divorce, Hemamalini alleged.....

12-hour Asom bandh tomorrow

Kokrajhar, Feb 27 (UNI) A 12-hour Asom bandh has been called from 0500 hours tomorrow by the Ex-BLT Welfare Society against the proposed de-reservation of the Kokrajhar Lok Sabha constituency seat. The Election Commission had proposed in its delimitation report of constituencies that the Kokrajhar LS seat, currently reserved for ST, be placed under the general category. Chennai, Feb 23 (UNI) Madras High Court today dismissed appeals filed by DMDK Founder President and actor-politician Vijayakant and his wife, against a single judge's order, dismissing their petitions challenging the centre's demolition of the marriage hall owned by them in Koyambedu. A Division Bench comprising Chief Justice A P Shah and Justice K Chandru dismissed appeals filed by Vijayakant and his wife Premalatha against a single judge's order dated February 16, challenging the Centre's move to demolish the marriage hall.....
