Bhattacharya is SAIL's new Director (Finance)

New Delhi, Feb 27 (UNI) Mr Soilehs Bhattacharya has been elevated as the Director (Finance) of the Steel Authority of India Ltd (SAIL), from the earlier post of Executive Director (Finance and Accounts) in SAIL's Central Marketing Organisation.

Prior to this, he served in different units of SAIL and spearheaded several key initiatives in the organisation.

He has been credited with setting up the cost control department during his stint at SAIL's Rourkela Steel Plant and served as a certified Action Leadership tutor at SAIL's Management Training Institute located at Ranchi, said a SAIL statement issued here today.

Mr Bhattacharya, a Metallurgical Engineering graduate from Banaras Hindu University, joined SAIL as Graduate Trainee in 1974. Continuing to pursue his academic interests, he completed his ICWA in 1989 while in service.

Assembly poll results not a referendum on Centre: PM

New Delhi, Feb 27 (UNI) Prime Minister Manmohan Singh today said the defeat of the Congress in the assembly polls in Punjab and Uttarakhand would have no bearing on the Centre as it was not a ''referendum'' against the UPA. ''I am not saying there is no fallout. However, these elections have no bearing on the Centre'' as these were fought on state-specific issues, Dr Singh told reporters in Parliament House. UNI.....

NHRC notice to Moradabad GRP SP on Chandausi train incident

New Delhi, Feb 27 (UNI) The National Human Rights Commission has issued a notice to Moradabad Government Railway Police SP and sought a factual report on the alleged assault on passengers of Chandausi train from which a woman was thrown out. Taking note of a newpaper report on the incident, the Commission has directed the SP to look into the matter and submit the report within two weeks. According to the report, about 40 passengers of the Chandausi-Moradabad passenger.....

NHRC notice to Bihar Health Services DG

New Delhi, Feb 27 (UNI) Taking suo motu cognizance of a media report about a mentally ill patient being denied treatment due to want of money in Bihar, the National Human Rights Commission has issued a notice to the state Health Services Director General and sought a report on the incident. The Commission has directed the DG to submit the report within two weeks. NHRC said if the contents of the report are true, they raise a serious issue of human.....
