Shillong, Feb 27 (UNI) Chief of Air Staff Air Chief Marshal S P Tyagi today addressed senior officers of Eastern Air Command here.
Recalling the milestones of the IAF's history and its role in the past wars and other operations, he focused on the IAF's roadmap to undergo a realistic transformation in the next two decades from a tactical role to a full-fledged airforce facilitating to make India a true strategic aerospace power.
He emphasised on the need for giving a serious thought over the IAF operating on the new front to meet the national interest in conjuction with fast-growing economic strength.
He also stressed on the need for an Aerospace Command with a blend of a doctrine with vision 2025, speedy procurement of strategic hardware and to incorporate matching changes in selection and training pattern.
The Air Chief Marshal also brought out the importance of aptly exploiting the almost real-time processing and transmitting of information to arrive at a quick decision-making.
He expressed concern about cost-effective possession and utilisation of the defence assets and infrastructure with a mental set of joint-manship among the three services to enhance the overall capabilities and effectiveness of the forces.
He further appreciated the achievement of EAC in various fields.
