58 cows recovered in Hardoi

Hardoi, Feb 27 (UNI) Fifty Eight cows, including 45 dead, were recovered in this district of Uttar Pradesh today.

Acting on a tip-off, police reached the Hardoi-Shahabad highway and seized the cows, while they were being carried to a slaughter house.

The miscreants, however, managed to escape.

A case was registered and hunt for the accused was on, police said.

Mahoba, Feb 27 (UNI) A farmer, who tried self immolation at a gathering attended by Uttar Pradesh Chief Minister Mulayam Singh Yadav, died here late last night. On February 18, Maniram Sen had reached Kulpahad tehsil, where Mr Yadav was addressing a gathering. Maniram doused himself with kerosene and set himself afire. Hyderabad, Feb 27 (UNI) Criticising the state budget, the Telangana Rashtra Samithi (TRS) today demanded that the money earned through sale of lands in Telangana be spent only on the region. HC orders suspension of cop over laxity in gangrape case

Allahabad, Feb 27 (UNI) Allahabad High Court has ordered suspension of an investigating officer (IO), besides departmental inquiry against him for ''extreme negligence'' in performance of duty and collusion with the accused in a gangrape case.
