3 children killed in UP road mishap

Hardoi, Feb 27 (UNI) Three children were killed and another sustained serious injuries after a speedy motorcycle, carrying them, collided headon with a bus here this afternoon.

The mishap occurred on Hardoi-Shahjahanpur highway under Shahabad police station area, in which two children of a same family died on the spot.

The grievously injured were rushed to district hospital, where one wounded succumbed to his injuries.

The deceased were yet to be identified, police said.

The bodies have been sent for an autopsy.

BRO begins snow clearance on Leh highway in J and K

Kargil, Feb 27 (UNI) Notwithstanding fresh snowfall, the Border Roads Organisation (BRO) began snow clearance operation on the 434-km Srinagar-Leh national highway, which has been closed since November 15 last year due to heavy snowfall. A BRO spokesman told UNI the snow clearance operation was launched on Sunday from Drass, the second coldest place in the world after Siberia. Srinagar, Feb 27 (UNI) Two Rashtriya Rifles (RR) personnel and a militant were killed in a night-long operation in north Kashmir, a defence ministry spokesman said.
