14 passengers killed in bus accident

Kathmandu, Feb 27 (UNI) At least 14 people, including an Indian, were killed and over 25 injured when a passenger bus plunged 130 m deep into Trishuli river in Chitwan district, nearly 60 km south west from here, this morning.

The bus bound to Birgunj from Kathmandu veered off the road at Darechowk of Prithvi highway and fell into the river in the small hours today, police said.

The injured were admitted to Bir hospital in Kathmandu and Bharatpur hospital in Chitwan. Most of the injured are Indian nationals from Motihari, Bihar, the police informed.

The deceased include an Indian national, Rajendra Prasad Yadav of Motihari, police added.

The reason of the accident is yet to be known.

King to be removed from Rs 1000 and Rs 500 bills

Kathmandu, Feb 28 (UNI) The Nepal Government will replace King Gyanendra's picture with that of Mount Everest in Rs 1000, 500 and 10 denomination notes. The government has instructed Nepal Rashtra Bank, the central bank, to print notes removing the picture of the King, said Minister for Information and Communication Dilendra Prasad Badu. The government has expressed strong objection over the statement issued by the king on the occasion of the Democracy Day terming it unauthorised, unconstitutional, undemocratic and against.....

India, Pakistan to maintain Samjhauta passengers' record

Islamabad, Feb 28 (UNI) India and Pakistan have jointly drafted a new procedure to issue tickets to Samjhauta Express passengers to maintain a proper passenger record, in the wake of the February 19 blast in the peace train. The railway authorities of both countries have decided to maintain a proper record of all the passengers of the train, an official statement said. The authorities in both countries decided that the Pakistan ticketing authority would issue tickets only from Lahore Railway.....

Couple killed in car-lorry collision

Chennai, Mar 14 (UNI) A middle-aged couple was killed on the spot and three injured when the car in which they were travelling collided with a lorry at an overbridge in suburban Chromepet early today. Police said the deceased identified as Ahamed (50), his wife Kasa Beevi(44), were on their way to Koyambedu when the mishap occurred. The lorry driver jumped out of the vehicle and fled from the spot, police said adding the injured were admitted to the Government General.....
