12-hour Asom bandh tomorrow

Kokrajhar, Feb 27 (UNI) A 12-hour Asom bandh has been called from 0500 hours tomorrow by the Ex-BLT Welfare Society against the proposed de-reservation of the Kokrajhar Lok Sabha constituency seat.

The Election Commission had proposed in its delimitation report of constituencies that the Kokrajhar LS seat, currently reserved for ST, be placed under the general category.

The sitting MP from the seat, Sansuma K Bwiswimuthary, had won the seat thrice consecutively.

The Ex-BLT Welfare Society also demanded reservation of ten of the total 14 Assembly seats in Bodoland Territorial Council (BTC) areas proposed under the delimitation report. The BTC currently has 10 Assembly constituencies.
