Two people shot at in East Delhi; one arrested

New Delhi, Feb 25 (UNI) Two people were injured when unidentified gunmen barged into their house and opened fire at them in East Delhi this evening.

Two armed men entered the victims' house in Farsh Bazar area at 1915 hrs and shot at fiftytwo-year-old Kulbahar Singh. His daughter also sustained injuries, police said.

While one of the intruders has been arrested, the other is absconding, the police added.

Pratapgarh, Feb 25 (UNI) A local court here acquitted Uttar Pradesh Food and Civil Supplies Minister and controversial Independent MLA Raghuraj Pratap Singh alias 'Raja Bhaiyya', his father Udai Pratap Singh along with 17 of their supporters. On May 31, 1997, a Madarsa principal Asratullah Naqvi had lodged an FIR against Raja Bhaiyya, his father and others, alleging he had been assaulted by them. Hearing the case last evening, local court judge Naresh Kumar acquitted the accused for lack of evidence......

Karnal Feb 25 (UNI) Twenty-four-year old Sandeep Singh, who had recently been ostracised by the panchayat for marrying his widowed relative was brutally murdered by about twelve persons including women at Duperi village last night. While the victim's wife Manjit 29, a mother of two children managed to escape from the clutches of the attackers, three others including Bimla, mother of Sandeep and his two friends Krishan and Kuldeep were seriously injured. Man kills self, 2 children

Moradabad, Feb 25 (UNI) A man allegedly committed suicide after poisoning his children in this district of Uttar Pradesh early today. Gurdas Yadav, a resident of city Kotwali area, poisoned his two children Yashi (4) and Yash (2) after his mother in-law refused to sent his wife along with him. Later, Gurdas also consumed poison.
