TN to extend support for foreign investors: Minister

Chennai, Feb 26 (UNI) Tamil Nadu Higher Education Minister K Ponmudi today informed that the state is geared up to extend full support for the foreign investors.

During a speech at the inauguration of Australian Consulate General in the city, he said ''this one state offers an excellent conducive investment climate to the local and overseas investors''.

''Tamil Nadu is one of the front line state, which has been attracting investments from all over the world'', he said adding ''the overseas investment has not only been in service sector but also in manufacturing sector particularly in the automobile segment''.

Mr Ponmudi also mentioned that the full-fledged Australian Consulate in Chennai was a timely initative in view of the strong business interests that were rapidly developing between Australia and the southern part of India.

''As the Indian economy gets stronger and stronger, rest assured that not only the trade between these two countries but also many strategic paterships were expected to develop'', he said.

He urged the Australian delegates to issue visas in its new Chennai office, since considerable number of Indian citizen had been visiting Australia as tourists every day.

Time to protect tribal interests: Official

PWD engineer found murdered

Varanasi, Feb 22 (UNI) A junior engineer of Public Works Department (PWD) was found murdered in the Cholapur area here early today. Police said here the body of Kaushalanand Pandey, a PWD junior engineer was recovered from the Pisaur Pulia under Cholapur police station. The body bore deep wounds, which suggested the engineer was murdered, police added. Hyderabad, Feb 26 (UNI) Minimum temperatures fell at one or two places over Telangana but significantly rose at a few places over Rayalaseema and changed little over Coastal Andhra Pradesh.
