Six arrested, IMFL worth Rs 2.16 lakh seized in Anand

Anand, Feb 26 (UNI) Sleuths of Anand police arrested six persons in connection with the seizure of 45 boxes of India Made Foreign Liquor (IMFL) worth Rs 2.16 lakh at Anklav-Umreta railway crossing.

540 bottles of IMFL along with a Mahindra jeep and two mobiles totalling Rs 4.43 lakh were seized last night, police said.

Hanif alias Raju, Alambhai Musada, Dahesaram Prajapati, Dilip Marwari(Ahmedabad), Rakesh Shankar Prajapati (Ahmedabad) and Bansi Bishnoi(Rajasthan) were among the arrested.

Rs 1500 monthly honorarium demanded for Marathi film veterans

Kolhapur, Feb 27 (UNI) Marathi film veteran artistes should be given Rs 1500 as monthly honorarium, Ajay Sarpotdar, President, Akhil Bharatiya Marathi Chitrapat Mahamandal(ABMCM) today demanded. Addressing a press conference here, Mr Sarpotdar said film veteran s presently get from the Maharashtra government an amount of Rs 500 as monthly honorarium, which is quite 'inadequate'.''It is need of the hour to hike the honorarium at least upto rs 1500 to them,''he said. 22 lakh electorate in the district to exercise franchise in ZP

Pune, Feb 27 (UNI) The Zilla Parishad and Panchayat Samiti elections will be held on March 11 and nearly 22 lakh electorate in the district will exercise their franchise, to elect 75 members of the Zilla Parishad (ZP) and 150 members of the Panchayat Samiti. District Collector Prabhakar Deshmukh told mediapersons that 10,462 election officials will be engaged for election duty. Two long distance trains to stop at Nadiad and Anand

Nadiad, Feb 27 (UNI) Ahmedabad-Patna Express and Ahmedabad-Azimabad Express would stop at Nadiad and Anand railway stations from tomorrow. Many workers from the other states live in Anand and Kheda and they were finding it difficult to catch a train to their native place as they had to go either to Ahmedabad or Vadodara railway stations. In this connection, a memorandum was submitted to Union minister of state for Petroleum Dinsha Patel who had forwarded it to the railway.....
