Russia concerned over possible US strikes on Iran

Moscow, Feb 26 (UNI) Russian Foreign Minister Sergei Lavrov today voiced concern over Washington's statements about possible strikes on Iran.

At a cabinet meeting, Russian Foreign Minister Sergei Lavrov told President Vladimir Putin that he is concerned after the forecasts and predictions of US strikes on Iran became frequent.

''In particular, during his recent visit to Australia, US Vice President Dick Cheney mentioned the possibility of strikes and stated that no one should allow Iran to ignore the position of international community,'' Lavrov said.

Mr Lavrov, further, stressed that Russia will make every effort to resolve the Iranian nuclear problem through talks.

''We will try to find a way to resume talks on Iran, but it would be a difficult task as Iran continually fails to provide satisfactory answers to IAEA questions,'' the Russian Foreign Minister added.
