Rains likely in NE states, West Bengal

Pune, Feb 26 (UNI) Rain or snow are likely to occur at isolated places in Uttarakhand, Himachal Pradesh and Jammu and Kashmir.

Rain or thundershowers are likley to occur at a few places in Arunachal Pradesh, Assam and Meghalaya, Nagaland, Manipur, Mizoram, Tripura, West Bengal and Sikkim and at isolated places in Orissa, Jharkhand, Bihar, Madhya Pradesh, Chattisgarh and Tamil Nadu. Mainly dry weather will prevail over Uttar Pradesh, Haryana, Punajb, Rajasthan, Vidarbha, Gujarat state, Konkan and Goa, Madhya Maharashtra, Marathwada, Andhra Pradesh, Karnataka and Kerala.

Mainly dry weather prevailed over Orissa, west Uttar Pradesh, Uttaranchal, west Rajasthan, Vidarbha, Chattisgarh, Gujrat state, Konkan and Goa, Madhya Maharashtra, Marathwada, Andhra Pradesh, Karnataka and Kerala.

Night temperatures were appreciably below normal in coastal Andhra Pradesh and in some parts of Bihar and of north interior Karnataka and were below normal in some parts of east Uttar Pradesh, south Madhya Maharashtra and south interior Karnataka. They were appreciably to markedly above normal in Rajasthan and Gujarat state and were above normal in Assam and Meghalaya, Nagaland, Manipur, Mizoram, Tripura, Bihar, Haryana, Jammu and Kashmir, north Madhya Pradesh and north Madhya Maharashtra. They were normal over the rest of the country.

Rail budget cold-shouldered Gujarat: minister

FAM opposed to VAT on essential commodities

Mumbai, Feb 26 (UNI) The Federation of Associations of Maharashtra (FAM) has flayed the proposed imposition of value added tax (VAT) on essential commodities while cautioning that such a move would aggravate inflation.
