Replying to a question, Mr Munawwar Hasan, however, said that he would not be tendering resignation from the SP, nor from Parliament. ''It is for the SP to do what it wants to. I just don't feel the need of submitting my resignation,'' said Mr Hasan. ''After all neither Mr Natwar Singh and nor Mr Raj Babbar resigned from their parties,'' quipped Mr Singh in a lighter vein.
Mr Hasan has been SP MP thrice. He has also been elected to the State Assembly two times on the RLD ticket. He has served one turn as MLC.
He said Mr Mulayam Singh's party had lost all ground in western Uttar Pradesh, which will soon be proved in the coming Assembly elections.
Replying to a question, Mr Hasan said he had been disillusioned by the policies and style of functioning of the Mulayam Government in Uttar Pradesh.
''There is no law and order, no electricity for the farmer, no relief for the poor. The government has completely allied itself with the rich,'' he added.
On this occasion, Mr Singh called upon Harit Pradesh sympathisers to join his camp.
''I know there are a lot of people in other parties who are all for creation of a 'Harit Pradesh'. Now the time has come to come together for this cause,'' said the RLD chief.
