One more petrol pump sealed for adulteratiion in Kashmir

Srinagar, Feb 26 (UNI) The Crime Branch of the Jammu and Kashmir police sealed one more petrol pump in the Valley as a part of the massive drive against adulteration in different petroleum products.

With this four petrol pumps have been sealed by the CB for adulteration in petrol and other products.

An official spokesman said following state High Court directions on a Public Interest Litigation (PIL) to check adulteration in different petroleum products at petrol pumps, a joint team comprising representatives from Consumers Affairs and Public Distribution department, Traffic Police, Crime Branch and Indian Oil Corporation launched a massive drive in the Kashmir valley.

He said on spot checking was being conducted with their mobile testing laboratory.

He said during the on spot checking of M/S Kohinoor Filling Station, Barsoo, Awantipora in south Kashmir, adulteration was detected in the sample collected from the said filling station.

Later, the dealer was advised to stop supply immediately.

Accordingly a report was also forwarded by Consumer Affairs and Public Distribution department, Kashmir to the Crime Branch.

He said an FIR was registered against the defaulter.

Similar action against three more petrol pumps have been taken during the past one week, he said.

Advani exempted from Court appearance in Scorpene case

Court adjourns Margadarsi case

Hyderabad, Feb 26 (UNI)A city court today adjourned the Margadarsi Financiers case without any arguments till February 28. First Additional Metropolitan Sessions Judge S Anantasayana Prasad adjourned the hearing as the counsel for the financiers, owned by media baron Ramoji Rao, failed to appear when the judge called him. Speaking to media here, Special Public Prosecutor S S Prasad said the CID had seized all documents related to receipts of deposits in 26 trunk boxes and 12 cartons and sealed.....

Kochi, Feb 26 (UNI) In a significant development, Kerala Local Administration Minister Paloli Mohammedkutty today appeared before the High Court and tendered an unconditional apology for his remarks against the court.
