Officer arrested for accepting bribe

Patna, Feb 26 (UNI) Sleuths of State Vigilance Bureau today arrested industrial extension officer of Banka, Shambhunath Bhagat, from his office for accepting Rs 4000 as bribe.

An associate of the officer, Rajeev Ranjan Jha, was also arrested during the raid.

Additional Director General of the State Vigilance Bureau Neelmani said a trap was laid on the basis of a complaint regarding demand of illegal gratification by Mr Bhagat for issuance of a certificate.

Two persons killed in road mishap

Krishnagar, Feb 27 (UNI) At least two persons were killed and three others critically injured when a truck overturned near Gede on the Indo-Bangla border here. Police was attributed the accident to the bad conditions of the roads. According to sources, CPWD was carrying construction work of the road. However, the condition of the road deteriorated following sunday's downpour. Driver of the truck, Bharat Biswas(29), died on the spot. The four labourers on board were rushed to the Krishnagar.....

SC grants week's time for response to govt's new ads policy

New Delhi, Feb 26 (UNI) The counsel for the petitioner in a PIL seeking a ban on government advertisements glorifying political leaders today told the Supreme Court that there was nothing new in the government's new advertisement policy.
