NCWR to launch nationwide movement from tommorow

Allahabad, Feb 26 (UNI) The recently formed National Coalition For Workers (NCWR), a national forum committed to create an equitable and exploitation free society, will launch a nationwide movement from tomorrow.

''There are 39 crore labourers in the unorganised sector which constitute 95 per cent of the labour force. These labourers, especially women, contribute 2/3 in the total Gross Domestic Product (GDP). It's painful that they are devoid of any social security even after Independence,'' NCWR National General Secretary Subhashish Chakravorty claimed while talking to mediapersons here today.

Mr Chakravorty alleged ''When the National Democratic Alliance (NDA) was in power, it had prepared a draft bill for the unorganised sector which was grossly inadequate. Now, the present United Progressive Alliance (UPA) government is following the same process to revise the bill and present it in the parliament.'' He said the NCWR, having a strength of more than one lakh members, has planned to launch a nationwide movement from Allahabad to create pressure on the government to revise the bill in favour of workers and pass it in parliament as early as possible.
