MP Budget delayed due to oppn bedlam

Bhopal, Feb 26 (UNI) The Madhya Pradesh Budget for 2007-08 was presented about ten minutes behind schedule in the state Assembly today courtesy pandemonium and constant interruption by the opposition.

After the House assembled for the day, Speaker Ishwar Das Rohani told Finance Minister Raghavji -- at the appointed time 1030 hrs -- to present the document. At that juncture, Leader of the Opposition Jamuna Devi and several other main opposition Congress members began shouting over the postponement of question hour.

Amidst the din, Mr Rohani referred to a decision taken at a Business Advisory Committee meeting and said that the arrangement was made on account of the budget. ''I urge the opposition to stay calm. The Leader of the Opposition also attended that meeting and concurred with this arrangement.'' UNI

Bomb hoax at APSRTC headquarters

Hdyerabad, Mar 14 (UNI) Panic prevailed at the Bus Bhavan, the state headquarters of Andhra Pradesh State Raod Transport Corporation (APSRTC), here today following a bomb threat call which turned out to be a hoax. Police said the Bus Bhavan Control Room received an anonymous call stating a bomb had been planted in the office and it would go off at any time. Customs officials seizes tobacco products for Lanka

Chennai, Mar 14 (UNI) The Customs officials have seized tobacco products, meant to be smuggled to Sri Lanka, from an export consignment at the export sheds of the Air Cargo complex here. Mumbai, Feb 26 (UNI) The Railway Budget for the year 2007-08 is a progressive one with emphasis on development, said Commodities Market President K F Jhunjhunwala today. Every year in the past, there had been some increase in prices, but this year the budget is very good with a cut of 60 per cent in luggage and parcel fares, Mr Jhunjhunwala said.
