Mother kills child, ends life

Tiruchirapalli, Feb 26 (UNI) A woman allegedly committed suicide by consuming poison after killing her three-year old daughter at Srirangam near here this morning.

Police said the deceased were identified as Ranjana (25) and her daughter Mohanapriya.

Family problems led her to take the extreme step, police said.

The bodies were taken to government hospital for post mortem.

Puducherry, Feb 26 (UNI) Puducherry Principal Districts and Sessions Judge M Chinna Pandi, hearing the Sankararaman murder case in which Kanchi acharyas Jayendra Saraswathi and Vijeyendra Saraswathi are the prime accused, today posted the hearing of the case for March 20. Mumbai, Feb 27 (UNI) A gang of robbers today allegedly stabbed a Police Naik to death and injured two security guards of the Maharashtra State Electricity Board (MSEB) by pelting stones at them at Rabale in Navi Mumbai. Nagpur, Feb 27 (UNI) A public interest litigation (PIL) was filed before the Nagpur Bench of the Bombay High Court today challenging the levy of Transmission and Distribution Losses (TDL) and fixed charges being collected from consumers by the Maharashtra State Electricity Distribution Company Limited (MSEDCL).
