M&M, Renault, Nissan to set up car unit in TN

Chennai, Feb 26 (UNI) Auto majors Mahindra and Mahindra, Renault and Nissan will jointly establish a utility vehicle and car manufacturing facility at an initial investment of Rs 4,000 crore at Oragadam SIPCOT Industrial Park near here.

This will be India's biggest vehicle manufacturing centre at a single location.

An MoU to this effect was signed between the Tamil Nadu Government and the three car manufacturing companies in the presence of state Chief Minister M Karunanidhi at the Secretariat here.

The three auto giants would form a consortium and establish an integrated automobile project.

The facilities would include engine and transmission plants, press shop, body shop, paint shop and assembly line, an official statement said here.

The project would initially have a capacity to manufacture four lakh vehicles per annum. This would be significantly stepped up over a period of time.

The project would also involve manufacture of 50,000 tractors per annum and at full capacity, generate direct and indirect employment, including those by its ancillaries and service providers, for about 41,000 people.

Sensex opens firm at 13,703.41 points

Mumbai, Feb 27 (UNI) The BSE Sensex today opened positive at 13,703.41 points as compared to the previous day's close of 13,649.52 points on fresh speculative demand from Foreign Insititutional Investors (FIIs) and some mutual funds, brokers said. Silver eases, gold steady

Mumbai, Feb 27 (UNI) Spot silver eased by Rs five per kg on thin buying support while gold remained steady on moderate demand today, at the Bombay Bullion Exchange, Silver fineness opened high at Rs 20,745 per kg on better buying support. Later, it declined and closed at Rs 20,695 per kg with a loss of Rs five from its yesterday's close. In London, the white metal also fell to 14.57/14.60 per troy ounce against USD 14.62/14.65 per troy ounce.....

KHS AG, Germany signs MoU with Dharmsinh Desai University

Nadiad, Feb 27 (UNI) KHS AG, Germany today signed a memorandum of understanding (MOU) with Dharmsinh Desai University (DDU) for students training programme at the company's plants in different countries. Mr Valentine Reisgen, Chairman, KHS AG, Germany and Dr H M Desai, Vice Chancellor, Dharmsinh Desai University today signed the MoU.
