Ivory idol of Gautam Buddha recovered

New Delhi, Feb 26 (UNI) The Delhi Police has recovered an ivory idol of Lord Buddha from a resident of Chandigarh,in the Jama Masjid area of Old Delhi.

Weighing about 1.7 Kg, the idol, whose cost estimated about Rs 50 lakh in the international market, was seized from one Lakhvinder Singh, a resident of Chandigarh, when he had come to strike a deal in the Jama Masjid area on February 22, police said.

Interrogation of Lakhwinder revealed that he had struck a deal of the ivory idol for Rs 50 lakh.

The idol is about 8 inches high.

One more petrol pump sealed for adulteratiion in Kashmir

Kidnapped petrol pump employee rescued by Punjab Police

Bathinda, Feb 26 (UNI) In a well planned operation, the Punjab Police today succeeded in freeing a petrol pump employee from his kidnappers after a brief exchange of fire. Three of the abductors identified as Jaskaran Singh, Pargat Singh and Mithu were arrested along with weapons after the exchange of fire near Mehma Sarkari village this morning. University security lathicharges scribes, 6 injured

Varanasi, Feb 26 (UNI) At least six mediapersons were injured, when securitymen at the Mahatama Gandhi Kashi Vidyapith (MGKV) University lathicharged them here today. The incident occurred when students associated with All India Student Association (AISA) were protesting the recent misconduct with a girl student by a varsity teacher.
