Heroin worth Rs 3.5 lakh seized in Mizoram

Aizawl, Feb 26(UNI) Mizoram excise officials have seized heroin worth Rs 3.5 lakh from the possession of a Myanmarese national in Mission Veng area of the city last night.

''The man is believed to be the main supplier of heroin in the state and operates under a number of fake names,'' Excise department's Anti-Narcotic Squad officials said.

Sources said the man was identified as Lalhunzauva.

Investigations were on.

Advocates abstain from work in Patna civil court

Patna, Feb 26 (UNI) Lawyers of Patna civil court today abstained from their work in protest against the killing of an advocate, Upendra Paswan, under Mashaurhi police station in the district on February 24. In an emergency meeting held here under the chairmanship of district bar association president Jai Prakeash Singh, the advocates urged the state government to pay a compensation of Rs five lakh to the dependents of the victim. PM orders free air service for stranded passengers at Jammu,Srinagar

Jammu, Feb 27 (UNI) Prime Minister Manmohan Singh today ordered two days free air service for stranded passengers between the capital cities -- Jammu and Srinagar -- of the state from tomorrow, official sources said. Keeping in view the continuous road blockages on Jammu-Srinagar national highway due to rainfall, Jammu and Kashmir Chief Minister Ghulam Nabi Azad talked to Mr Singh on telephone and requested him for providing free air service to the stranded people, sources said.
