Eleven army jawans among 15 people killed in bus accident

Jammu, Feb 26 (UNI) Eleven Army jawans were among 15 people killed today in a bus accident near Mahore in Udhampur district of Jammu and Kashmir.

The bus, hired by the Army, was on its way to Mahore from Reasi when it turned turtle and fell into a 300-metre-deep gorge at Gangote, 12 km from the destination, this evening, Inspector General of Police S P Vaid told UNI.

A family of three and the cleaner of the bus were among the civilians killed in the accident, he said.

Six seriously injured, including the driver, were shifted to the hospital at Mahore, the IGP added.

The jawans were reportedly returning after attending a six-day Artificial Limb Fitment Camp organised by the Army's Ace of Spades Division in the bordering Poonch and Rajouri districts.

Indian Bank provides educational loan to 26000 students

Puducherry, Feb 26 (UNI) The Indian Bank had extended educational loan to the tune of Rs 260 crore to 26,000 students till December 2006 during the financial year 2006-07, CMD of the bank K C Chakraborty said here today. In an informal chat with newspersons on the sidelines of the Bharat Nirman Information campaign, Mr Chakraborty said the loan amount was expected to reach Rs 300 crore by the end of the financial year, and Rs 600 crore provided to 60,000.....

Patna, Feb 21 (UNI) Sleuths of state vigilance bureau today arrested three government employees at different places for accepting illegal gratification. Additional director general of state vigilance bureau Neelmani said that one Shakeel Ahmad of Bihar state Madarsa Board was arrested while he was receiving Rs 7000 from a teacher Jamaluddin to extend favour to him in salary arrear payment. Andaman Police arrest two poachers recovers live deer

Port Blair, Feb 21 (UNI) Andaman and Nicobar Police today nabbed two persons who entered the restricted Jarawa Reserved Forest for poaching and recovered a live deer from them. Police said a patrolling party last night saw one dinghy coming from the reserved forest areas of Jarawa and intercepted it.
