Criminal cases filed against 4 youth who attempted to commit suicide

Gulbarga, Feb 26 (UNI) Criminal cases, under section 309, will be registered against four youth who attempted to commit suicide at the launch of 'Suvarna Gramodoya' by President A P J Abdul Kalam in Srinivas Sadargi village, 15 km from here yesterday.

Superintendent of Police Munish Kabirkar told UNI that Suresh Dhole, Vijay Kumar Hattarki, Devendra Hosmani and Sharnu who were admitted to the Government General hospital have recovered and their condition is fine now.

''We are awaiting for medical report. As soon as we receive the report, we would take further action against the four.'' Deputy Commissioner Pankaj Kumar Pandey told UNI that the President did not enquire about the incident nor asked for details.

The President's personnel staff including the Security personal rushed to the scene where the youth consumed poison and raised slogans.

The four youth, who had passed out from Industrial Training Centre (ITC) run by Karnataka Power Transmission Corporation Limited (KPTCL) attempted to commit suicide demanding 33 per cent job reservation in the recruitment in KPTCL.

The All India Student Federation (AISF) pointed out that the previous Dharam Singh led coalition government had provided 33 per cent job reservation to the ITC students. However, it was removed by the present JD(S)-BJP coalition government.

C-in-C Trainig Command visits Command hospital

HM clarifies on traffic signals

Hyderabad Feb 21 (UNI) Andhra Pradesh Home Minister K Jana Reddy today informed the State Assembly that 17 of the 98 traffic signals in the twin cities of Hyderabad and Secunderabad were not functioning due to road widening and flyover work. However, junctions were manned by traffic constables to ensure smooth flow of traffic, he said replying to a question from Mr M Ranga Reddy (Cong). Annual maintenance was done by the city police and major repairs taken up by civic.....

Bangalore, Feb 26 (UNI) Following is a summary of observations recorded here at 0830 hours today. Dry weather prevailed over the State. Minimum temperatures rose at many places over Interior Karnataka and changed little over Coastal Karnataka. They were appreciably below normal at most places over North Interior Karnataka; below normal at a few places over South Interior Karnataka and were normal over Coastal Karnataka.
