Allahabad Bank opens first Overseas branch in Hong Kong

New Delhi, Feb 26 (UNI) Foraying into the outside market, Allahabad Bank, country's oldest joint stock bank, today announced it has opened its first overseas branch in Hong Kong.

The bank opened a branch at the Lippo Centre to serve retail and corporate clients.

As part of its China expansion plans, the bank also opened a representative office in Shenzhen from where it will explore opportunities in the dynamic southern China region.

''Having consolidated our business with 2,046 branches across India, as well as long standing relationships with 225 foreign counterparts in all major economies, we have decided to expand our presence into key overseas business centres. Hong Kong was a natural first step and we look forward to offering a range of improved and efficient services to cater to the needs of retail and corporate clients in India as well as Hong Kong,'' Bank's Chairman and Managing Director A C Mahajan said.

The Director-General of Investment Promotion at Invest Hong Kong Mike Rowse said almost three quarters of the world's leading banks already have offices here, so it is a natural step for Allahabad Bank to set tip here.

The booming trade links between India and China, will offer Allahabad Bank exciting opportunities in Hong Kong, he added.

RIL's promoters to pick up stake at Rs 1,402/share

New Delhi, Feb 26 (UNI) The Reliance Industries Ltd today said the issue price of shares through the preferential offer of 12 crore warrants to its promoters has been fixed at Rs 1,402. The company's board, which met on Saturday, has accorded approval to raise further equity by way of the preferential issue warrants. While an amount equal to 10 per cent of the price will be paid on allotment of the warrants, the remaining 90 per cent will be paid.....

Luxottica seeks RayBan NOC to enter Indian eyewear market

New Delhi, Feb 26 (UNI) Italy's Luxottica Group SpA, which holds a 44 per cent stake in RayBan Sun Optics India, owner of luxury eyewear brand 'Rayban', is seeking the latter's no-objection certificate to enter the Indian eyewear business on its own. Keeping up with the trend of foreign firms quitting their Indian partners to go alone in the domestic market, Luxottica has indicated its intention to set up wholly-owned subsidiaries for the purpose. Rail budget fabulous says Cong, Oppn says its disappointing

New Delhi, Feb 26 (UNI) Terming the railway budget as 'fabulous'', the Congress today said that the budget showing Rs 20,000 crore profit was growth oriented and reduced the train fares for all.
