4-day 'Phaguni Poonam Mela' from Feb 28 at Dakor

Anand, Feb 26 (UNI) The four-day ''Phaguni Poonam mela'', that attracts lakhs of pilgrims, will begin on February 28 at Dakor.

The Dakor administration has geared itself up for the event as it is estimated that around 15 lakh pilgrims will visit this temple town during these four days.

Kheda district collector R R Varsani today held a meeting with senior police officials, councillors and members of the Dakor temple managing committee to review the arrangements.

Pilgrims congregate at the Dakor temple after travelling on foot from all across Gujarat and even other states. The civic administration and the police have, therefore, decided to close all roads to Dakor from March 1 to March 4 for all types of vehicles.

Arrangements have also been made for setting up medical camps, and for providing free lodging and free meals to the ''padyatris''.

Six killed in road accident in Jharkhand

Hazaribagh, Feb 26 (UNI) Six people, including four women, were killed and nine other injured when a trekker carrying them collided with a dumper under Vishnugarh police station of the district today. Police said the accident occurred on Bagodar-Vishnugarh road near Choutha area. Four people died on spot and two succumbed to their injuries in the hospital, they said. One of the injured had been sent to district Sadar hospital, while the rest were undergoing treatment at the Vishnugarh Referral hospital......

Berhampur, Orissa, Feb 26 (UNI) At least seven passengers were killed and 20 injured when a private bus carrying them overturned on the Kalinga Ghat near Andharkot, about 110 km from here today. Police said the mishap occurred when the bus with more than 50 passengers was on its way from Muniguda to Berhampur. The driver of the bus lost control while negotiatig a curve on the Kalinga ghat and the vehicle overturned and slipped 200 feet down. Five passengers.....

Rail budget "disappointing" for Orissa: Naveen

Bhubaneswar, Feb 26 (UNI) Orissa Chief Minister Naveen Patnaik today described the rail budget as ''disappointing,'' saying all the demands of the state have been ignored. Mr Patnaik told newsmen here that as the state was witnessing massive industralisation, the government had requested the railway ministry to undertake several projects for improvement of infrastructures but all these requests were turned down.
