Yadav to contest from Karlan Vidhan Sabha constituency

Mainpuri, Feb 25 (UNI) Sobran Singh Yadav would be the Samajwadi Party (SP) candidate from Karhal Vidhan Sabha constituency in Mainpuri district of Uttar Pradesh.

The announcement was made last evening by SP National General Secretary Ramgopal Yadav.

Mr Yadav has recently left the Bhartiya Janata Party (BJP) and joined SP.

The Election Commision has announced a seven-phase schedule for the elections to the UP Legislative Assembly, starting from April 7 and ending on May 8.

In the first phase of elections on April 7, voters will cast their votes in Karhal, Mainpuri and other areas. The first phase will cover 62 Assembly constituencies.

Karhal is said to be a strong hold of the ruling SP in Uttar Pradesh.

The poll process for the UP Assembly elections will begin from March 13 with the issue of notification for the first phase.
