Two school girls drowned in sewage canal

Bangalore, Feb 25 (UNI) The bodies of two eight-year-old girl students, who were missing from School since yesterday, were found floating in a sewage canal behind their school in the city today.

Kengeri police said that the two students of Govt. Primary School in Bhuvaneshwari Nagar did not return home yesterday. It was suspected that they might have slipped and drowned.

The two girls had ventured out as the lone toilet room in the School was locked. Their school bags were found in their class room.

The local residents protested against the teachers of the school after the bodies were fished out by the municipal staff.

Phase-II unemployment allowance launched

Chennai, Feb 25 (UNI) Tamil Nadu government here today distributed the second phase of unemployment allowance to unemployed youths in the state. The programme was kickstarted by the Tamil Nadu Chief Minister M Karunanidhi yesterday at Coimbatore, where he distributed unemployment allowance to about 7,000 youths. Eleven arrested in connection with shootout in city

Bangalore, Mar 13 (UNI) Police today arrested eleven people allegedly involved in the February 15 shootout in the city in which two people were killed. City Police Commissioner Neelam Achutharao told newspersons here that six teams of City Crime Branch (CCB) and local police had succeeded in nabbing the accused involved in the shootout in the office of Shabnam Developers here.
