Two girls killed in road mishap

Khagaria, Feb 25 (UNI) Two girls were crushed to death by a speeding truck near Matihani village on National Highway 31 under Mansi police station here today.

Police said the incident took place when the victims were returning to their residence after collecting fodder.

The victims have been identified, police added.

Koderma, Mar 10 (UNI) Police arrested a school teacher along with his son for allegedly taking money for employing youths from the Devi mandap road in Jharkhand's Koderma district today. Police said Shyamdeo Rai and his son were arrested from their house in the Jhumri Tillaya area here. Three separate cases had been registered against the culprits in Jhumri Tillaya police station for taking Rs 12 lakhs fraduently for providing employment. Jamshedpur, Feb 25 (UNI) Jhakrhand Chief Minister Madhu Koda today reiterated the UPA government's commitment to protecting the rights and traditional system of the adivasis. Addressing the adivasi religious programme ''Baha Parab'', organised by the Adivasi Joher Than committee, here, he said the government had allotted adequate fund for the protection of the traditional adivasi system, particularly in Santhal Parganas region. He also vowed to protect all the religious places of the tribals and assured that the demands of the committee.....

Jailer shot dead in Ara

Ara, Mar 10 (UNI) Two people, including a jailer, were shot dead, following a land dispute at Semardah village in Bhojpur district today. Police said that some miscreants barged into the jailer's residence and fired indiscriminately, killing him on the spot. Another person was also killed in the incident. Rourkela, Feb 25 (UNI) Two persons were killed and five others injured when a tempo in which they were travelling hit a dumper at Itma, about 70 km from here, today under Badagaon police station. Police said while one Laxman Themria (38) died on the spot, another passenger identified as Maharagi Teli (40) died on way to Sundergarh headquarters hospital. Five others received minor injuries. All the seven people were going to Sundergarh to sell vegetables when the mishap occurred,.....

Damoh, MP, Mar 10 (UNI) Notorious dacoit Inder Singh Lodhi, who carried a reward of Rs 15,000 on his head, was killed in an encounter with police at Dhangaur forest in this district last night, police said today.
