TTD Board approves budget

Tirumala, Feb 25 (UNI) The Board of Trustees of Tirumala Tirupati Devasthanam (TTD) today approved the annual budget for the financial year 2007-2008.

After the Board meeting TTD Chairman B Karunakar Reddy told reporters here that the Rs 916 crore budget would accord priority to pilgrims amenties.

He said, Rs 19.31 crore had been allocated for accommodation facilities while Rs 41.97 crore earmarked for Dharma Prachara Parishad Activities and Rs 150 crore towards salary and wages for the employees.

Besides, Rs 59.02 crore had been allocated for free medical care to the poor and Rs 5.21 crore for taking up renovation works of old temples in Andhra Pradesh.

TN Minister lays foundation stone for desalination plant

Chennai, Feb 25 (UNI) Tamil Nadu Local Administration Minister M K Stalin today laid the foundation stone for the Rs 510 crore-desalination plant with a capacity of 100 MLD, the largest in the country, at Minjur near here. The plant is expected to be commissioned by July 2008. Central Excise evasion detected

Hyderabad, Mar 13 (UNI) The Hyderabad Regional unit of the Directorate General of Central Excise Intelligence detected a case of massive evasion of Central Excise and misuse of Cenvat Credit Scheme by some aluminum extrusion manufacturers.
