Tribal encroachers increases to 14

Pathanamthitta, Feb 25 (UNI) Malaveda tribals who has encroached the revenue surplus land at Olikallu near here had set up three more huts today. With this, the number of encroaching tribal families rose to 14.

The 10.87 acres of land allotted to 14 landless Malaveda families in the district was now under the illegal occupation of the inmates of Olikallu tribal colony.

The encroachers demanded that the land adjacent to their colony be released to them. The Adivasi Malaveda Mahasabha that spearheaded the encroachment had the support of CPI(ML).

The 11 huts put up on Saturday had been strengthened. The district administration had been keeping its fingers crossed. Land had been allotted to 14 Malavedas selected from 40 landless Malaveda families here, through draw of lots by the Revenue Minister recently.

The Revenue Department would hand over the alloted land in two days. If the occupation continued even after that, the district Collector was expected to take decisive action.

Arms dealer nabbed, shell casings and tools siezed

Nadia, Mar 13 (UNI) CID and Shantipur police today raided an arms factory and arrested the arms dealer in Nishchintapur village im Shantipur today. Malay Ray was manufacturing and supplying pipe guns worth between Rs 1,000-1,200 for the past two years, police said. Police siezed some arms-making tools and recovered a few shell casings from his factory, which he converted from an old iron factory here. Investigation in the matter is on. UNI.....

Bomb hoax disrupts train serives at Sealdah Stn for hours

Kolkata, Mar 13 (UNI) A bomb hoax disrupted train services at the Sealdah station for two hours today following the detection of an unclaimed bag in the general compartment of the down Gede-Sealdah local train. HC orders shifting of trial of MP to Patna

Patna, Mar 13 (UNI) The Patna High Court today ordered to shift the trial of a murder case pending against JD(U) MP Prabhunath Singh from Bhagalpur sessions court to Patna and conclude it within three months. A division Bench comprising Justices Aftab Alam and Samrendra Pratap Singh passed the order on a habeas corpus petition filed by Harendra Rai in connection with alleged kidnapping of his mother Lalmuni Devi by the henchmen of Mr Singh.
