Tender mayhem in Arunachal

Itanagar, Feb 25 (UNI) Tender submissions for Rajiv Gandhi Gramin Vidyutkaran Yojna (RRGVY) at Seppa, in East Kameng district, is alleged to have been rigged and manipulated to suit vested interests.

In a written complaint to Chief Minister Gegong Apang, Arunachal Congress general secretary LK Yangfo claimed that his attempt to submit the tender papers on the appointed day, on February 23 last, at the office of the Seppa power executive engineer was prevented by some miscreants owing allegiance reportedly to a Likha Saaya.

Mr Yangfo alleged that he, along with other members, were physically prevented from submitting the tender papers.

''The total worth of the contract was Rs 35 crore and my hard earned money for the same was lost in the process,'' he explained.

Levying further allegations, Mr Yangfo said that Mr Saaya had assured to award 40 per cent of the works to local contractors if he remained the lone applicant and if the miscreants managed to prevent the firm owned by Mr Yangfo.

In view of the alleged rigging and manipulation of the tender process, Mr Yangfo has urged cancellation of the same and re-tendering to be conducted.

The issue came in the backdrop of the central grant of Rs 581 crore to Arunachal Pradesh, including Rs 7549.83 lakh to East Kameng, to facilitate rural electrification of all uncovered rural areas including all circle, EAC and sub-divisional headquarters, which was announced by state Power Minister Dorjee Khandu during a press conference here on December 4 last year.

Sixteen districts of the state have been short-listed to receive the grant and the tender is in the process of being opened in other districts.
