Slain security personnel to be accorded guard of honour

Imphal, Feb 25 (UNI) Security personnel, killed in an ambush by suspected militants yesterday, were accorded guards of honour at a Manipur Rifles complex today.

The post-mortem of the 16 personnel have been completed at the Regional Institute of Medical Sciences(RIMS).

The morgue at the RIMS was filled with visitors and relatives of the deceased personnel.

Among the deceased security personnel were an Indian Reserve Battalion (IRB) jawan, 14 IRB jawans and a policeman.

Thirteen were killed on the spot, while one succumbed to injuries on the way to hospital. Two others died later. Chief Minister O Ibobi Singh had described the attack as an act of cowardice.

The convoy of six vehicles was led by Commandant P Dhiren Singh and the first vehicle bore the brunt of the attack. Heavy machine guns and powerful bombs were used. So far, police has no clue as to who could be responsible for the attack.

Two extremists shot dead in encounter

Gaya, Feb 25 (UNI) Two suspected Maoists were killed in an encounter with the police at Sukhabigha village in Bihar's Gaya district today. Superintendent of Police A K Jain said police also recovered one SLR, two rifles, 92 assorted cartridges, detonators and some other incriminating articles from the site of the encounter under Bazirganj police station in the district. Pricing of Iran's gas export to Indo-Pak to be announced

Dubai, Feb 25 (UNI) The pricing formula of Iran's gas export to India and Pakistan will be announced after a tripartite agreement, Iranian Oil Ministry official Hojjatollah Ghanimifard has said. Mr Ghanimifard, who is leading the negotiating team on the ''Peace Pipeline'' project, yesterday said that India was yet to announce a formula. IPI pipeline documents to be ready by June

Dubai, Feb 25 (UNI) National Iranian Gas Export Company (NIGEC) has indicated that the issues of contract, price and necessary documents related to IGI pipeline would be completed by June and the gas will be transferred to the Indian sub-continent by 2010. An Iranian official was quoted by Tehran Times as saying that the gas pipeline would have enough protection. Iran, India and Pakistan last month agreed over a price formula for Iran's gas to be delivered via a proposed seven.....
