Shankaranarayanan asks Nagas to seek peace within

Kohima, Feb 25 (UNI) Governor K Shankaranarayanan has urged the people to give up animosity and hatred, created by narrow vision, to uphold the true essence of the Sekrenyi festival.

The Sekrenyi is a festival of the Angami tribe for the purification of one's soul.

Addressing the Sekrenyi festival at a local ground here last afternoon, Chief Guest Mr Shankaranarayanan said that festivals are an occasion to take a break, rejoice and have fun. It may also help in cementing the bonds of friendship and brotherhood, he asserted.

He also requested Chief Minister Neiphiu Rio to invite all important people from the neighbouring states so that the festival will see more participants as well as gain more exposure.

Mr Rio, in his address, stressed on peace and harmony, well-being and prosperity of the people and development of the state.

Gawli will appear in court tomorrow

Mumbai, Mar 11 (UNI) The don-turned-politician Arun Gawli is likely to appear before the court tomorrow to hear on cancellation of his bail plea filed by Economic Offences Wing (EOW) department of the city police for his alleged involvement in a misappropriation case. Earlier, Additional Sessions Judge P D Vishwasrao had directed Gawli to appear before the court on March 12 for hearing on the petition. Three arrested in Jharkhand

Chatra, Mar 11 (UNI) Three persons were arrested from Loherdega in this district of Jharkhand for illegaly carrying banned meat to Gaziabad in Uttar Pradesh. Suprintendent of Police Kamlesh Kumar here today said all of them were arrested after their truck, carrying the illegal meat, turned turtle on Catra-Dobhi road under Sadar police station area here yesterday.
