Russia fails to understand US missile plans in Europe

Moscow, Feb 25 (UNI) Russian Foreign Minister Sergei Lavrov today said that US plans to create a missile shield in Eastern Europe are not understandable to Moscow.

"The US statement on its intention to deploy a missile shield in Eastern Europe is an example when a position, which has been expressed to us, as it seems, honestly and sincerely, turns out to be not quite understandable to us after a specific study," he said during an interview on Russian television channel TVTs.

He was referring to the US plans to build a radar installation in the Czech Republic and a missile base in Poland, in the next five years to counter possible attacks from "rogue regimes," including Iran and North Korea.

Mr said the hypothetical trajectory of missiles that could be launched from Iran and North Korea was different from the trajectory the US spoke about.

Mother seeks help for daugther sold to settle gambling debt

Hyderabad, Pakistan, Feb 27 (UNI) The mother of a teenage Pakistani girl, allegedly sold by her (late) father when she was one-year-old, has threatened to immolate herself if the girl, now 16, is not saved from being handed over to a middle-aged man. The English-language Dawn newspaper quoted Ms Nooran of Zeal Pak Colony at Latifabad in Hyderabad as saying that her late husband Rahib was a gambler and he had sold their one-year-old daughter Rasheeda for Rs 10,000 to one.....

Tory leader leads with 11-point: survey

London, Feb 27 (UNI) A survey today has put Tory leader David Cameron in an 11-point lead, enough to put Conservatives in power in Britain. The CommunicateResearch Poll for The Independent puts the Conservatives on 40 per cent (up six points since January), Labour unchanged on 29 per cent, and the Lib Dems on 17 per cent (down four points). At a general election, such a Tory lead would give Mr Cameron a 100-seat majority. Last week an ICM showed.....
