Record fruit production in Kupwara, 64 more hectares for orchards

Srinagar, Feb 25 (UNI) Under Horticulture Technology Mission, additional 64 hectares of land was brought under orchards in the frontier district of Kupwara, where 1.65 lakh metric tonnes of fruit production was recorded.

An official spokesperson said that as many as 1.65 lakh metric tonnes of fruit production has been recorded in the district. It included 20,000 metric tons of dry fruit.

He said about 80 per cent of the total allocation of Rs 59 lakh has been utilised to promote horticulture sector in the district so far during this fiscal.

He informed that 51,000 hectares of orchards have been covered under plant protection programme. The orchardists were provided 2,000 MT of various kinds of fertilisers, 7,000 walnut saplings, 30 power tillers and 400 foot pumps on subsidised rates.

Tripura PDS captures 3rd position in the nation

Cheaper mutton, chicken bring down inflation to 6.63 pc

New Delhi, Feb 25 (UNI) The government's proactive role to curb the swelling price rise has brought the inflation rate slightly down to 6.63 per cent for the week ended February 10, from a two-year high of 6.73 per cent in the previous week. The decrease has been attributed to cheaper food articles like mutton, chicken, condiments and spices. The annual inflation rate calculated on point-to-point basis was 3.81 per cent during the corresponding week of the previous year, official.....

Bihar lowest in the developmental indexes-Modi

Patna, Mar 6 (UNI) Bihar is at the lowest rank in the laid standards for the developmental indexes as per the Economic Survey.
