Panel to visit VSP tomorrow

Visakhapatnam, Feb 25 (UNI) The Prime Minister's trophy and Rs one crore would be awarded to the best Integrated Steel Plant in the country for the year 2005-06 A Visakhapatnam Steel Plant(VSP) release said here today, nine intregrated steel plants were in the fray.

The public sector plants were: Visakhapatnam Steel Plant of RINL, Bhilai Steel Plant, Bokaro Steel Plant, Durgapur Steel Plant and Rourkela Steel Plant of SAIL.

The private sector steel plants were: Tata Steel, Essar Steel, Ispat Industries and JSW Steel, Vijayanagar.

The 13-member panel of judges headed by Secretary, Ministry of Steel had been constituted for selecting the best integrated steel plant for 2005-06. The panel comprises eminent personalities from various fields.

The panel would visit VSP from tomorrow for three days, the release added.

'Introduce chapter on all religion in school syllabus: Agnivesh

Bangalore, Mar 4 (UNI) Bandhura Mukti Morcha Chairman Swami Agnivesh today called for inclusion of a chapter on all religion in the country in the school syllabus to impart knowledge on different religion to the students. Delivering a talk on 'Combating new faces of fascism' organised by the Forum for Democracy and Communal Amity here, he said the students should learn about all religion right from the beginning so that by the time they pass out they would have better knowledge.....

AITCA demands higher grade

Chennai, Mar 4 (UNI) The All India Train Controller's Association (AITCA) today demanded that the railway controllers be placed higher than the Class-II officer and Class-I provisional officers as was done by the Third Pay Commission in 1973. A resolution, urging the Railway Board and the Sixth Pay Commission, which is hearing the views of the Railway members, to this effect was adopted at the Zonal General meeting of the AITCA, in which the National Executive members of the association participated......

IndusView envisages pro-development Budget

New Delhi, Feb 26 (UNI) The forthcoming Budget is likely to be pro-development with the semi-conductor policy already been approved by the Centre, ensuring that the economy continues to grow at more than nine per cent, an industry analyst said today. The allowing of capital subsidy of 25 per cent on investments for setting up semi-conductor, micro and nano-technology manufacturing units will help bring huge investments for the country, advisory firm IndusView said.
