Lunar, solar eclipses to occur in March

Akola, Feb 25 (UNI) Lunar and partial solar eclipses would be observed within a period of 15 days in March, according to a Marathi almanac.

According to late Jyotishacharya Dr H S Rajandekar's Maharashtriya Panchang, the lunar eclipse would be observed in totality on the morning of March 4. It would start at 0300 hrs and end at 0642 hrs.

The eclipse would be visible across India, Arctic region, Asia, Europe, South Central and Northern America, Japan, some parts of China, Russia, Philippines and Indonesia.

In its ending period, it would be visible in Ahmedabad, Amritsar, Bhopal, Delhi, Jaipur, Kolhapur, Ujjain, Mumbai, Nashik and Pune.

However, the eclipse would not be seen in Akola, Nagpur, Jalgaon and Chandrapur during the period, the Panchang said.

The ingress of luminary at an eclipse would begin at 1530 hrs on March 3.

Similarly, the solar eclipse would be observed partially on March 19. The eclipse would not be visible during its touching time as it starts before sunrise. The eclipse would end at 0743 hrs. The touching of eclipse would be visible in east and north-east regions of India.

The eclipse during this period would be visible in Amravati, Ahmednagar, Ahmedabad, Ambejogai, Indore, Ujjain, Chandrapur, Jalgaon Nagpur, Nanded Nasik, Bangalore, Bhopal, Mumbai, Pune, Buldana, Delhi, Hyderabad.

HMK seeks deletion of portions of song in film 'Periyar'

Thousands of cattle sacrificed during the famous Bada Yatra

Koraput, Feb 25 (UNI) More than a thousand cattle have been sacrificed at 'Bada Yatra', along the 70 km road while visiting the four principal deities at the Malkangiri temple, near here, for the past five days.
