Lights rains bring slight chill to Delhi,mercury drops to 24.6 Deg C

New Delhi, Feb 25 (UNI) Light rains and thundershowers today brought down mercury in the capital to 24.6 Degree Celsius, one degree below normal, even as weathermen forecast thundersqualls and hailstorms in Delhi in the next few days, indicating wet and chilly weather before Holi.

The rains and thundershowers, which hit the Capital this afternoon, followed an overcast sky in Delhi since the morning. The rain and thundershowers brought down the maximum temperature in the capital to 24.6 Degree Celsius, from 26.4 Degree C yesterday.

The rain, coupled with thundershowers, lent a slight chill to the Delhi air.

Earlier, this morning, the clouds in the skyline led to a sharp rise in minimum temperature to 13.4 Degree Celsius, from 10.8 Degree C yesterday.

Though only traces of rainfall were recorded, weathermen have forecast more rain and thundershowers in Delhi in the next two to trhee days under the influence of a fresh Western disturbance, indicating another wet and chilly spell in Delhi before the Holi festival, which falls on March 4 and heralds the arrival of the Summer season in Delhi.

The weather office has also forecast possibility of isolated thundersqualls and hailstorms in Delhi during the next 24 hours.

Some heavy spells of rainfall could hit the capital towards the middle of the coming week.

Weathermen have forecast a generally cloudy sky in Delhi during the next 24 hours with rains and thundershowers in some areas and possibility of thunderqualls and hailstorms in some areas.

They have also forecast a drop in minimum temperature to 12 Degree C tomorrow.

Chilly Christmas eve in Delhi as mercury plummets to 6.1 Deg C

New Delhi, Dec 24 (UNI) It was a chilly Christmas eve for Delhiites as the mercury in the capital plummeted to the season's lowest of 6.1 Degree Celsius, thus putting a dampener on the partying and the festival revelry. The drop in minimum temperature to 6.1 degrees C, two degrees below normal, from 8.2 degree C yesterday brought about a severe chill in the air. This is the lowest temperature recorded in Delhi this winter.....
