Job fair with a difference

Kolkata, Feb 25 (UNI) With a view to provide career development opportunities to thousands of youths, the Rotary Club has organised the 6th "J4U" job fair here earmarking a special section for the physically challenged candidates.

A volunteer of Rotary Club, Shishir Riyanwala said ''in this fair we are also trying to provide professional help and quality recruitment guidance to people with physical disabilities.'' District Rotary Public Relations Coordinator Subhojit Roy said "this year the target is to provide good jobs to ten physically handicapped candidates against two last year." Members of the Rotary Club were also optimistic that this year the job fair would provide jobs to at least 400 job seekers out of 4000 who thronged the venue.

Nearly 26 leading companies cutting across various sectors like finance and banking, IT, insurance, media and mass communication participated in the two-day fair.

Wipro Spectramind, ITC Infotech, HSBC, GE Capital, Allianz Bajaj, Tata AIG, Airtel and Eureka Forbes were amongst the participating companies at the fair which concluded yesterday.

Govt school teacher arrested for commiting fraud

Koderma, Mar 10 (UNI) Police arrested a school teacher along with his son for allegedly taking money for employing youths from the Devi mandap road in Jharkhand's Koderma district today. Police said Shyamdeo Rai and his son were arrested from their house in the Jhumri Tillaya area here. Three separate cases had been registered against the culprits in Jhumri Tillaya police station for taking Rs 12 lakhs fraduently for providing employment. Besides, more cases of forgery had also been registerd.....

Koda vows to protect rights of Adivasis

Jamshedpur, Feb 25 (UNI) Jhakrhand Chief Minister Madhu Koda today reiterated the UPA government's commitment to protecting the rights and traditional system of the adivasis. Addressing the adivasi religious programme ''Baha Parab'', organised by the Adivasi Joher Than committee, here, he said the government had allotted adequate fund for the protection of the traditional adivasi system, particularly in Santhal Parganas region. He also vowed to protect all the religious places of the tribals and assured that the demands of the committee.....

Jailer shot dead in Ara

Ara, Mar 10 (UNI) Two people, including a jailer, were shot dead, following a land dispute at Semardah village in Bhojpur district today. Police said that some miscreants barged into the jailer's residence and fired indiscriminately, killing him on the spot. Another person was also killed in the incident. Mr Singh was posted at Supaul and had come to the village on a leave. In another incident, one Tara Paswan was also shot dead by miscreants at Chhapramur village near.....
