Film Stars to be interrogated by Narcotic Bureau in Kedia case

Kolkata, Feb 25 (UNI) Nacotics Burea is likely to interrogate filmstars like Mithun Chakrabarty and Debashree Roy, among others, including the Eastern India Motion Pictures Association authorities, in connection with the Sanjay Kedia's Drug scandal.

Narcotic Bureau of Eastern Region sources said here today that it would issue summons to some film stars as well as EIMPA secretary for their involvement in a film produced by D P Kedia Film Private Limited. Sanjay Kedia and his brother Pranay Kumar Kedia, a chartered Accountant, owned this company. Mithun Chakrabarty and Debashree Roy had played the lead roles in tyhis film.

''Interrogation of the film stars was inevitable as the bureau had evidences of utilisation of huge money, which might prove that unlike Mumbai film industry, mafias are a part of the film industry in Tollygunge,'' sources said.

Mr Sanjay Kedia remained in judicial custody since early this month for his alleged involvement in drug smuggling through his IT industry of Salt Lake. The Bureau had already sealed his SaltLake residence and Office. Narcotic Bureau has also summoned his wife Manika Kedia, to appear before it, which she was allegedly avoiding, compelling the bureau to issue arrest warrant against her, sources said.

Meanwhile, police also raided Kedia's Howrah factory producing pharmaceutical items.

SC dismisses appeal of Mayadevi against divorce from husband

New Delhi, Feb 25 (UNI) The Supreme Court has come to the rescue of a husband who lost three children due to the cruelty of his wife, when the Apex Court dismissed her appeal against the divorce granted to the husband by the Trial and the High Courts. The petitioner, Mayadevi of Rajasthan lost the final round of hearing on February 21, when the bench comprising Justices Arijeet Pasayat and Dalveer Bhandari upheld the order of the Trial Court as well.....

CBI team to leave for Argentina for Quattrocchi's extradition

New Delhi, Feb 25 (UNI) With the March seven deadline for the extradition of Bofors accused Ottavio Quattrocchi looming large, the CBI is sending a three-member team to Argentina to initiate the legal process against the fugitive Italion businessman by February 28. CBI sources said the team would leave for Argentina shortly as the 30-day deadline for initiating the necessary process for the extradition of Quattrocchi, who was detained in Argentina on February six, would expire on March seven. Two people shot at in East Delhi; one arrested

New Delhi, Feb 25 (UNI) Two people were injured when unidentified gunmen barged into their house and opened fire at them in East Delhi this evening. Two armed men entered the victims' house in Farsh Bazar area at 1915 hrs and shot at fiftytwo-year-old Kulbahar Singh. His daughter also sustained injuries, police said. While one of the intruders has been arrested, the other is absconding, the police added. UNI.....
