Dikshit advocates yoga to search for peace, happiness in life

New Delhi, Feb 25 (UNI) ''Spread smile and share it with others, then only the world would be living heaven.'' Delhi Chief Minister Sheila Dikshit in these words advocated the essence of yoga in order to search for peace and happiness in life.

Advocating the need for Yoga on the occasion of the launch ceremony of Yogi Ashwiniji's book ''Sanatan Kriya: Basic-Essence of Yoga'' here, Ms Dikshit said yesterday, ''In this busy life, we have little time to think for others beyond ourselves and Yoga provides us the compassion and tolerance to understand other things. It gives us the power to understand other's pain.'' ''When a child is born it smiles 300 times a day, but after attaining age, if he smiles 30 times a day then it would be a great achievement,'' she said.

Showcasing the various benefits of yoga, Yog Guru Yogi Ashwiniji said, ''The present generation should practice yoga in order to overcome their daily pain and hazards.'' ''Yoga is not tying yourself up in knots, nor becoming an ascetic.

Yoga is balance, Yoga is being here now, enjoying the pleasures of life and going over them,'' the Yoga Guru added.

In this postmodern world, technical advancement and a helter-skelter kind of lifestyle is taking people towards the spiritual side in search of an organised life.

Asserting the fact that Yoga is not only about individual gains but can be utilised in nation building, the Yoga Guru said, ''Yoga is the control of environment, control of oneself but not for personal gains, instead it is for the betterment of the nation.'' Clearing people's misconception regarding the stringent kind of a lifestyle that a Yogi follows, he said that Yoga neither calls for sacrificing the physical pleasures of life, nor it propagates a special kind of a diet.

''There is no age bar, no food restrictions for a Yogi. A Yogi might be a 80-year-old or 8-year-old normal individual.'' UNI
